In their discussion, the scholars highlight how to navigate the increasing number of standards and how your company can stay on top, including preventing the imminent mistake of greenwashing and the risk of non-compliance. The key challenge is that companies will need to decide what are the key risk assessment areas for themselves and aim for transparency which could be both a huge benefit and a challenge. Amongst the 11 ESG standards, reporting on Climate change and particularly in Green House Emissions stands out.

‘What’s gets measured gets done’’.

Accurate reporting is a big challenge for impact investing and for avoiding reputational damage. Thus, it is not an exercise to tick the box but a way to transform towards the imminent future by changing their business models. The European Green Deal and EU action plan on sustainable growth seeks this remodeling due to the goal of reducing emissions by 55% by 2030. The reporting package is a transformational element in changing our sustainability trajectory.
