MET GROUP AIMS AT SIGNIFICANT RENEWABLE EXPANSION
MET considers the growth of renewable power generation as a key part of its business strategy going forward, supporting the transition to green energy in Europe.
The company’s goal is to increase their renewable portfolio to at least 500 MW by 2023. The company is targeting further diversification into wind and photovoltaics in Serbia, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria and potentially other CEE and SEE countries.
MET has also launched an R&D project providing solution to the ups and downs of weather-dependent green power production. The project examines potential alternative methods of utilising renewable energy sources, and how optimised automated algorithms can balance weather-dependent, intermittent power generation.
While renewables will be one of the company’s main focuses, natural gas will still play a very important role. Although the proportion of renewables is increasing rapidly in power generation, the importance of natural gas as a transition fuel will remain in the foreseeable future. MET is excited to be part of the journey of t the energy transition toward a zero-carbon world.
