To instill a mindset shift among students to become problem solvers of global issues, she incorporates SDGs into her courses, workshops, and assignments, enabling students to think about financial targets in combination with reaching explicit Development Goals of the UN.
Encouraging students to adopt sustainability and social impact approaches in the real work environment and social aspects, Professor Zeynep Aycan shares how she tries to reshape the culture of power into a culture of empowerment leadership and the hopes and visions she holds for future leaders. These include the ability to collaborate across generations and various motivational factors important to the student body at Koç, namely social justice and sustainable development. She also discusses some of the current challenges in impact education while sharing suggestions and opportunities in the said domain, emphasising that it is not a one-person show but a team effort. The key challenging part is having the courage to listen to others' opinions and fears.
