What Makes Us Special?
The Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is unique in its teaching and research of management through our concentration on the social, political and economic sciences by world-leading academics.
Located in the heart of London, we draw talent from all backgrounds and over 100 countries to our community of staff, students, alumni, corporate and social partners.
Committed to academic rigour and evidence-based education, our mission is to inform and inspire better management in practice by challenging and extending the understanding of people, teams, organisations and markets, and the economic, psychological, social, political and technological contexts in which they operate worldwide.
We are proud to be part of LSE, an institution that ranks #6 in the world for social sciences and management (QS World University Rankings 2025) and #2 in the UK by percentage of overall four and three star in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021).
Founded in 1895, LSE continues to use its convening power to bring together global leaders, innovators and social scientists for the betterment of society. We continue this tradition by engaging with people and organisations worldwide, across the private, public, and third sectors, who are motivated to improve the world through better understanding and practice of management.
What to Expect on Campus
LSE's campus is located in the heart of London, creating a vibrant and cosmopolitan atmosphere that's very much connected to the real world. Despite the surrounding city's hustle and bustle, many streets around the campus are pedestrianized, fostering a true sense of community. The campus itself looks out over the London skyline and is conveniently situated next to the Royal Courts of Justice, with the financial district, Westminster, and the Houses of Parliament all easily accessible. This prime location makes it an exciting place to study, particularly for those interested in finance, politics, or law. Beyond academics, students can enjoy the nearby Covent Garden, London's hub for theatre, dance, and film, as well as many other iconic London sights and attractions.
Students at LSE can expect comprehensive facilities to support their studies. The British Library of Political and Economic Science, founded in 1896, is a major international social sciences library offering extensive resources and a superb study environment. LSE LIFE, located on the ground floor of the Library, provides academic, personal, and professional development support through one-to-one advice and a collaborative study space. For recreation and well-being, LSE offers a diverse range of sports clubs and societies, catering to all levels, from beginners to competitive athletes. On-campus facilities include a state-of-the-art gym, badminton courts, and nearby netball and tennis courts. LSE also has its own sportsground in New Malden, providing outdoor sports facilities. To cater to every taste and budget, the campus boasts a variety of food and drink outlets, from cafes and restaurants to pubs and bars.
