What Makes Us Special?

Keio has a proud history as Japan's very first private institution of higher learning, which dates back to the formation of a school for Dutch studies in 1858 in Edo (now Tokyo) by founder Yukichi Fukuzawa. Since the school's inception, the students of Keio have risen to the forefront of innovation in every imaginable academic field, emerging as social and economic leaders.

Keio is located in Tokyo and Kanagawa, one of the world’s largest metropolitan areas. Keio is constantly ranked as one of the top universities in Japan, and it is known for its quality of education and research. Keio also affords students comfortable, safe living environments that encourage interaction yet allow privacy. Outside of the classroom, a fulfilling campus life awaits. There are over 400 student clubs and societies run voluntarily by students for all manners of sports and interests.

What to Expect on Campus

Students at Keio University can expect a vibrant campus life, with a rich history evident in its architecture, such as the Gothic, red-brick library. The Mita Campus is a hub for academic pursuits, housing four undergraduate faculties and six graduate schools. Beyond academics, students have access to a diverse array of over 380 independent student-run clubs, teams, and groups, catering to various interests. The Keio University Athletic Association, a historic organization, offers 43 competitive sports teams. Additionally, numerous other student organizations, including cultural and welfare associations, contribute to a dynamic and engaging campus experience.

Keio is located in Tokyo and Kanagawa, one of the world's largest major metropolitan areas. CEMS Club Tokyo

The CEMS Club Tokyo is an association of CEMS students at Keio University that strives to ensure a vibrant and dynamic CEMS community in Tokyo, which aims to organize academic, corporate, as well as social events to foster long-life relationships with co-students, alumni, and corporate & social partners. It was awarded the First Prize in the CEMS Club Awards in Fall 2014.
