What to Expect?
What Makes Us Special?
WU is an international university that is very aware of its responsibility to society and the research community and acts conscientiously in all that it does. WU is all of us: the people that study here, teach, perform research, work in our administrative units, or are even just visiting our campus as guests or to attend one of our many public events.
Since 1898 WU provides space for contemplation and creativity and is a pioneer in research and teaching, all with the goal of increasing economic capability and social prosperity.
What to Expect on Campus
Students at WU can expect a diverse culinary experience with numerous dining options, from the traditional Mensa cafeteria to cozy cafes. For those on the go, a supermarket and various take-away places are also available.
The WU campus is designed to be a vibrant and relaxing environment. Students will find inviting plazas with comfortable seating, a tranquil "Relax WU" area with a reflecting pond, and shady spots ideal for reading. The central "Stage WU" serves as a gathering place and event venue. For sports enthusiasts, Campus WU offers a Sports Center with a gym, aerobics room, and fitness center, as well as a basketball court. Additionally, the adjacent Prater Park provides ample opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, jogging, skating, and cycling.
Living in the City
Vienna is consistently ranked as the city with the world’s highest quality of living according to Mercer’s Quality of Living Ranking. In addition to a wide selection of cultural and recreational opportunities, Vienna offers an excellent infrastructure and is also one of the world’s safest cities.
In October 2013, WU relocated to an impressive new campus in Vienna’s 2nd district. As a public institution, WU is aware of its responsibility, and built its campus in an economical, ecological, and socially sustainable manner. Not only have new buildings been constructed, but in the process, also concrete realizations were given to ideas of what the university of the future should look like. The campus is more than just a place for academic research and teaching and learning practical skills; it is also designed to create a new space for social, cultural, and political life.
CEMS Club Vienna
CEMS Club Vienna is one of the biggest and most active local clubs joining and representing CEMS students at WU. Every term CEMS Club Vienna organizes numerous social and corporate events for both WU home students and incoming students from other CEMS universities.
